Duncan comes from a family line of Oakville residences, his family has resided in Oakville since the mid 1800's and owned the Mattlat Tannery Company-one of Oakville's largest businesses at the turn of the century. Duncan pursued a successful coaching career for the Oakville Blades; one of the only Oakville minor hockey teams to win the prodigious OHL Cup.
